Sculpture: Resin
In her resin sculptures, Liu cast resin into the shape of birds, which she stacked breast-on-shoulder in a delicate balancing act. Left unpainted in their original bone-colored hue, they resemble spinal cords, but the grace and weightlessness conveyed by their intricate spatial relationships and outspread wings and tails imbue them with an otherworldly quality and a sense of freedom.
