Lebanon

I traveled to the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon in 2013 and visited makeshift settlements to see first-hand the dire situation for Syrian children and their families.  Lebanon is currently home to the largest number of Syrian refugees, including children, in the world. Since 2012, UNICEF, working with partner agencies, has responded swiftly to growing influx of children, providing emergency support, including winter clothes and blankets, vital hygiene and a vaccination program.

UNICEF continues to enroll Syrian children into local schools and provide psychological support and accelerated learning programs—all with the goal to ensure displaced Syrian children do not lose out on their education.
